Khaled Esguerra (b. 2002) is a photographer, visual artist and designer from Abu Dhabi.
Inspired by his experience growing up and living in Abu Dhabi, his artistic practice tackles the complexities and nuances of migrant identity, urban narratives and how communities claim space in the Gulf. He works with photography and other image-based methods on research-driven, long-term projects.
Esguerra’s work has been exhibited at Jameel Arts Centre, Alserkal Avenue and Bayt Al Mamzar. He is currently an artist-in-residence as part of the Artist Residency Program 2025 at 421 Arts Campus, Abu Dhabi.
Esguerra considers the city to be his studio, and his work responds to the built environment that surrounds him — observing how time affects the streets, alleyways, buildings, pedestrians, facades, street cats and buses, and fervently archiving them in the present.
