TAKE South Asia

As Ishara celebrates its 5th Anniversary, the foundation is pleased to partner with TAKE on Art Magazine on a special issue dedicated to ‘South Asia’ and what it connotes in the present moment. Inspired from the “Questionnaire on ‘The Contemporary’” that Hal Foster sent out to colleagues in Europe and North America in 2009 asking them to describe the state of ‘the contemporary’, the issue aims to revisit the question of ‘What is South Asia today?’

Contributions by scholars, artists, curators, writers, institutional representatives and patrons reflect on the contested nature of the term ‘South Asia’, its recent history and contemporary re-evaluations through essays, diaristic notes, artist interventions and interviews.
